CBR YouthConnect Receives Grant to expand youth character development programming

CBR YouthConnect announced today that it has received a $50,000 Daniels Fund grant to support its innovative youth character development program: MY STORY – ITS ALL ABOUT MY CHARACTER!

For over 56 years, CBR Youth Connect has provided troubled youth with the means to become hopeful and productive citizens.  The Daniels Fund grant will enable CBRYC to expand its commitment to innovative “youth character development” with “hard-to-reach”, troubled youth who have histories of school drop-out, homelessness, teen pregnancy, unemployment and mental health.

MY STORY – ITS ALL ABOUT MY CHARACTER!  helps youth determine what they want to stand for, what kind of person they want to be and then have the courage to move forward regardless of circumstances or influences in their lives.  We have learned these youth are very eager (even desperate) for meaningful conversations about character, values and ethics and want to change their life stories.

The program includes exposure to principles of character, values and ethics; positive mentors; guided reflection and exercises; completion of personal assignments; and on-going support.

The Mission of CBR YouthConnect is to develop and deliver quality programs that provide children, youth and families with the means to become hopeful and productive citizens.   We believe a healthy society evolves from the personal character and health and of its children, youth and families and from the over-all character of today’s culture.
